Wisconsin Licensure for WELS Teachers

If you graduated in 2002 or after ...

 

See Wisconsin DPI website for “Wisconsin Requirements for Out-of-State Educators”

 

· Apply for a Wisconsin Educator License Initial Out-of-State - PI-1602-OS   

 

· Request fingerprint cards.

 

· Send a completed Institutional Endorsement Form (PI-1612) to each college/university attended.

· 
Important: You must verify successful completion of Wisconsin's content area test(s). See Testing Information for details.

 

· Include a completed Employment Verification Form (PI-1613) to each education employer.

 

· Use the PI-1602-OS Checklist to ensure a complete application that DPI can process.

 

 

Please Note

 

If you graduated between 2002-2004, you will be issued a Professional Educator license and be able to renew by taking six college credits or by completing the Professional Development Plan (PDP) process.

 

If you graduated after 2004, you will be issued an Initial Educator license and will renew by completing the PDP process.
